Orbas Services offers multiple secure payment options—including cards, digital wallets, and regional gateways—so you can pay the way that suits you best. This guide explains the methods we support, how fees are calculated, and what happens before, during, and after checkout.

1. Supported Payment Methods

Global cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) via Stripe Checkout. Stripe’s pay‑as‑you‑go model keeps pricing transparent, with a small percentage plus a flat fee per card transaction citeturn0search0. PayPal. Perfect if you prefer paying from your PayPal balance or linked bank. PayPal applies a modest seller fee—typically 2 percent on domestic payouts and 5 percent (capped) on low‑value cross‑border payments citeturn0search1turn0search9.

Paystack. Ideal for Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Kenya. Fees start at 1.5 % + ₦100 for local transactions, capped at ₦2,000; international cards cost about 3.9 % + ₦100 citeturn0search2turn0search6.

Flutterwave. Popular across Africa. Local fees average 1.4 %–2 % in NGN (capped), while international payments incur a slightly higher percentage.

Other regional gateways (CCAvenue, Instamojo, Iyzico, Midtrans, Mollie, PhonePe, SSLCommerz) are routed automatically based on your currency and location. They follow comparable “1–3 % + nominal flat fee” structures in line with global norms citeturn1search7.

For cash bookings, select Pay in Cash at checkout—your provider will collect the amount in person. Cash bookings still attract the same platform fee and must be marked “paid” in‑app to keep your warranty active.

2. Fee Breakdown at Checkout

Every Orbas Services invoice shows four figures:

  • Service price. The amount set by your provider (e.g., £135 for electrical wiring).

  • Tax. VAT or regional sales tax is added where applicable.

  • Platform fee. A small fee (usually under 12 %) that funds marketplace support, insurance, and payment security.

  • Payment‑gateway fee. Already embedded in the total—we negotiate wholesale rates across partners so you don’t pay extra at the point of sale. Typical merchant fees fall between 1.5 % and 3.5 % worldwide citeturn1search7.

Example: £135 service + £27 VAT (20 %) + £15 platform fee = £177 total. The gateway fee is deducted on our end; you see only the grand total.

3. Security & Compliance

All card data is processed exclusively by PCI‑DSS Level 1 providers such as Stripe and PayPal; Orbas never stores card numbers on its own servers citeturn0search0. Gateway traffic is encrypted end‑to‑end using TLS 1.2+.

We also comply with regional mandates such as Strong Customer Authentication (PSD2) in Europe and RBI tokenisation in India; additional 3‑D Secure prompts may appear for high‑risk transactions.

4. Refunds & Reversals

  • Partial or full refunds are processed back to the original payment method—Stripe or PayPal refunds typically clear in 5–10 business days, depending on your bank’s settlement window citeturn0search5.

  • Wallet and cash refunds are returned as in‑app credit first; you may withdraw to your bank once processed.

  • Platform fees are refunded in full if the booking is cancelled before the provider begins work.
